John brown attack suddenly in October sixteenth day. He raided the government armory and the arsenal at the Harper's Ferry. Brown was successful in the fight and then had planned to arm the thousands of chattels (slaves) and he knew the crowd would flock to his side. For this reason, many bands of militia and a company of U.S. Marines attacked John's men. Consequently, ten of John's men died, seven were captured, and the rest escaped. John was among the seven that were captured and were trapped in the engine house. John and his men were trying to fight the strong army, but two of his sons got killed and John got wounded.
